Before starting the generator set, a series of preparatory works need to be carried out. First, inspect the appearance of the unit to see if there are any loose, damaged or abnormal deformations of components, especially at the connection points such as cable joints and pipe interfaces. If any looseness is found, it should be tightened in time. Next, check the fuel system to see if the fuel in the fuel tank is sufficient and if there is any leakage in the fuel pipeline. If the fuel quantity is insufficient, fuel that meets the requirements of the unit needs to be added. If fuel pipeline leakage is found, it should be repaired immediately to prevent danger caused by fuel leakage. At the same time, checking the oil level is also very important. Use the oil dipstick to see if the oil quantity is within the specified range. When the oil quantity is insufficient, add the same type of oil to ensure that all components of the unit are well lubricated. In addition, the cooling system should be inspected to ensure that the coolant level is normal. Insufficient coolant can affect the heat dissipation of the unit and may lead to overheating and damage of the unit.

　　After completing the preparatory work, the startup operation can be carried out. For generator sets with preheating function, first turn on the preheating switch and wait for a period of time to allow the unit to reach the appropriate starting temperature. This is helpful to improve the combustion conditions of the fuel. Then press the start button to start the unit. During the startup process, it is necessary to pay attention to observing the startup time. If the unit fails to start successfully within the specified time, the startup should be paused and tried again after a period of time to avoid frequent startups that may damage the starting motor. After the unit is started, do not immediately load it. Let it run unloaded for a period of time, usually 3 to 5 minutes. During this period, observe the operating status of the unit, including whether the engine speed is stable, whether there is any abnormal vibration or noise, and whether the various parameters displayed by the instrument, such as voltage, frequency, and oil pressure, are within the normal range. If any abnormality is found, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection. Only after the fault is eliminated can it be restarted.

　　When the no-load operation of the unit is normal, the load can be gradually increased. When loading, it should be done slowly to avoid overloading the unit due to excessive instantaneous loading. During the operation of the unit, it is necessary to continuously monitor various parameters and regularly record data such as voltage, frequency, current, oil pressure, and coolant temperature, so as to promptly detect any abnormal situations. At the same time, it is also necessary to pay attention to observing the smoke exhaust condition of the unit. Under normal circumstances, the smoke exhaust should be light gray. If the smoke exhaust color turns black, blue or a large amount of white smoke appears, it indicates that the unit may have a fault and further inspection is needed.

　　When it is necessary to shut down the machine, the load should be gradually removed first. Let the unit run unloaded for 3 to 5 minutes to gradually lower the temperature of each component of the unit and avoid local overheating caused by sudden shutdown. Then close the fuel valve to cut off the fuel supply and gradually stop the engine from running. After turning off the engine, turn off the control switch and other related equipment, such as the cooling fan, generator control panel, etc. Finally, conduct a post-shutdown inspection of the unit, clean the dust and debris on the surface of the unit, and check for any damage or abnormality in each component to get ready for the next use.
